Rules and information for bidders
How do you bid on an auction?
Each auction item will be listed as a seperate LJ entry. Anyone wishing to bid on that item will reply to that item's post stating the amount they are willing to bid. Each item will have a start price, the minimum amount that can be bid to win that item. Each successive bid must be at least $1 greater than the last. For example, a scarf might have a starting minimum bid of $5. The first bidder bids $5. The next bidder must bid at least $6 to get that item but can bid as much as they want - $6 is just the minimum in the scarf's case. Bidder #2 bids $10. Bidder #1 enters a second bid for $11. The auction ends and item is awarded to bidder #1 for $11.
How long will each auction run?
All sixteen auctions will be up for five full days from April 17th - April 21st, 2008. Winning bidders will be posted for each auction on April 22nd and all winners will be contaced via LJ.
Is there a limit to how much a person can donate/bid for a piece?
Absolutely not! The more you donate, the more you help!
Can I bid more than once?
Definitely.
Can I top my own bid? I don't think I bid enough/I'd like to donate more...
Of course!
Do I really need a Paypal account in order to participate in this auction?
Yes. This is mandatory and there are no exceptions to this rule. You must at least have access to a Paypal account.
I live outside the US, can I still bid?
Yes. International shipping usually costs more so email me at jennracek@gmail.com if you'd like a custom shipping quote for an item you're interested in. Depending on availability, insurance and delivery confirmation may not be possible for items shipped internationally.
How will you alert the winners?
At the end of the bidding period, I will post the winners for each of the auctions. Read these posts for further instructions.
How will the winners pay, and get what they've won?
All payments will be via PayPal. I will provide additional payment details when you've won, however all auctions must be paid for in full within seven days of the auction's close.
Do I have to pay for shipping?
Yes, winning bidders will be asked to pay for shipping just as you would with most online auctions. Unless otherwise agreed, all items will be shipped via the USPS. Insurance and delivery confirmation are required on all items that are shipped. Insurance costs $1.65 for values up to $50 and delivery confirmation is $.65 or $.75 depending on how the item is shipped. You will NOT be charged for anything other than straight shipping costs, insurance and delivery confirmation. There are no packaging fees, handling costs or other hidden charges.
What proof can you offer that my money is going to the right place?
100% of all money raised by these auctions will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as part of Team Cassiebug's Great Strides fund raising efforts. Team Cassiebug will hand over all money raised to the CFF at the Great Strides event for Collin County Texas, May 17th, 2008. I am conducting these auctions with the full knowledge and understanding of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Please click here to see a letter from the foundation concerning permission to hold these auctions (please note the letter mentions eBay as auctions were held there initially as well). You can also click here to view a letter showing that the CFF is a non-profit, tax-deductible-status charity and officially registered as such with the government.
How do I know the money we donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is going to research to find a cure?
You can feel good that your donation will be well spent, as nearly 90 cents of every dollar raised by the CF foundation is used to support its vital programs. The CF Foundation has been ranked among the nation's most efficient health-research charities and many other charities use it as a model for their own programs.
I'm having technical/financial problems at the moment...is there any way I can get an extension to the 1-week auction payment deadline?
No. All winning bidders MUST pay for their auctions through PayPal no later than ONE WEEK from the end of the auction, otherwise the piece will go to the next highest bidder. Please, if you plan on bidding, please make sure your Paypal account is in proper working order and ready to go. The money raised through these auctions is being donated to the CFF through the Great Strides walk on May 17th, 2008 and we need to make sure that all donations, money raised and auction proceeds are in order at least a week before that.
